There are numerous places to explores in Abuja, and Central Park is at the top of the list. You’re going to love this place. I visited the central park for the first time in February just after valentines day. A very good friend of mine was moving to another city and our group of friends organized a little farewell get together. Being there for the first time, I was baffled with the numerous things to do in Abuja’s – Central Park.

The activities are light and do not require one to have a previous active lifestyle. However, having an active lifestyle would be of great advantage as it involves a lot of walking.

Must-Have Packing List for the Ultimate Central Park Experience

Things you may want to pack with you:

  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • A Camera or Smartphone Camera – make sure it’s fully charged and functional, you won’t want to miss not capturing any moment.
  • A selfie stick
  • Wipes – It doesn’t matter what age you are, wipes are always handy.
  • Proper shoes – since there will be a lot of walking, you won’t want to be wearing the wrong shoes.

Things to see and do in the park

Explore the parking area

Unlike the usual parking area, you will be welcomed by a charming car lot with fountains and birds on the treas chirping. It’s one of the highlights of my visit. The park can be visualized from the car lot and plan away the rest of your day.

Try some treats at Tapas on the Green

I ate one of the best pizza and chicken suya in Abuja here. The ambiance of the restaurant is earthy and the service, great. The restaurant offers a unique experience with its dishes consisting of meals from Indian, the contemporary world, and of course Nigeria. Definitely worth a TRY! Check out their menu and make a reservation here. However, the restaurant accepts walk-ins.

Go-Kart

Go on a ride on the 500m Go-Kart racing track! The activity is perfect for Friends and Families looking for a thrilling place to hangout. The park provides the suit needs to ensure one’s safety.

Tickets fee for Adults –N5,000 (5 laps) & Kids –N3,000 (5 laps). Kids refer to persons aged 7-12 years old and between 4ft – 4.11ft tall.

Paintballing – ‘The Game of Tag’

There are quite a number of places to play paintball in Abuja, so what makes this stand out? First off, all ages and gender can play the paintball. It is said to be a form of exercise that is great for burning calories and keeping fit. However, it’s perfect for bringing out the competition in person, not to mention the team spirit, and fun.

The game is played with the user of a Paintball Marker (a.k.a. Paintball gun) and Paintball pellets (a.k.a Paintball bullets). Paintball pellets come in a rainbow of bright colors such as green, blue, yellow, orange, and more. When a paintball pellet tags a player, the thin gelatin skin splits open, and the liquid inside leaves a bright ‘’paint’’ splash on the player. Tag a player and eliminate him/her from the game. The idea of the game is to avoid getting shot and eliminated. Tickets start from N4,000 for basic kit and N5,000

Playground

What’s a park without the kids playground? The playground is modern and offers recreational equipment such as the seesaw, merry-go-round, swing set, slide, jungle gym, chin-up bars, spring rider, trapeze rings, playhouses, and mazes. These help children develop physical coordination, strength, and flexibility, as well as providing a means of creating new friends .

Waterpark & Water Falls and Pond

The park announced recently of the new additional features which will include the Waterpark, and Water falls and pond. We’ll see what it has installed – I for one is among those waiting and following updates on the park social platforms. One thing for sure is that the Central Park Abuja never cease to amaze.

Picturesque Areas

Explore the park and take pictures in pretty much every corner of it. The yellow bridge and the heart-shaped plant are my favorites.

Conclusion – Things to do in Central Park Abuja

Central Park Abuja is a life postcard right in the city center. The park celebrates everyone and hosts many events from birthdays to weddings, concerts and festivals, bridal showers, and more. It is a beautiful and safe place to escape with family and friends right in the city.
