About Tapas On The Green
Tapas on the Green is a one of it’s kind Casual Dining restaurant located on the Green plains of Central Park Abuja. Our restaurant offers a unique experience to every customer with our tantalizing dishes consisting of meals from Indian, the contemporary world and of course Nigeria.
What makes our restaurant unique is our menu selection which embodies the spanish style of serving meals – and this is where our name originates from! TAPAS are small portions of food typically served in clay dishes and the most important thing about TAPAS is being able to share these small portions of food with friends and family.
But how exactly did the TAPAS style of dining begin? There are many stories about how the TAPAS came about, but one story has it that it began with spanish inn owners in the 19th century. It is said that owners of these inns often found it difficult to communicate with tourists staying at their inn. So when it came to lunch time, they would serve small portions of various spanish cuisine on a TAPA (The cover of a pot). This allowed guests to try out a wide variety of meals and then make a final choice on which they prefered. However, as time progressed, this style of serving meals became more popular among inn and diner owners and here we are now!
We adopt the same principle here at TAPAS on the Green by offering you the option of trying out various bits of food from our diverse menu. So stop by our restaurant, sit back and enjoy the many flavours of TAPAS on the Green.
